About

Washington, D.C., U.S.A

The National Mall is the grand public space at the center of Washington, D.C., where monuments, memorials, and museums come together in one unforgettable setting. Stretching across the heart of the capital, it offers travelers a chance to walk through the symbols, stories, and ideals that shape the United States. Few places feel as instantly recognizable—or as deeply connected to the nation’s identity.

Best Time to Visit

Spring and fall. Comfortable temperatures and seasonal color make it easier to walk long stretches of the Mall and enjoy its monuments, museums, and open spaces.

Wear comfortable shoes and plan your route before you go. The National Mall looks compact on a map, but distances between landmarks can be much longer than they seem.
