When people ask me about the best restaurants in Houston, I don’t hesitate.
They’re simply the places I go back to again and again — for completely different reasons. The food. The vibe. The energy. The way I feel when I walk in.
If you’re local, you need these on your list.If you’re visiting Houston, start here.
Sushi Wabi – One of the Best Restaurants in Houston for Sushi Lovers

If I go somewhere else for sushi, I genuinely feel like I’m cheating.
That’s how serious I am about Sushi Wabi.
Tucked off Richmond near the Galleria, it has that cozy, slightly hidden gem vibe. Not a literal hole in the wall — but intimate in the best way.
My order is locked in:
The Awesome Roll (mandatory)
The Happy Sumo Roll
And do NOT leave without ordering the crab puffs. I mean it. OMG.
I’m also a big sake girl, and that always elevates the experience. If I’m keeping it lighter, their tea is perfect too.
Parking isn’t the best — just prepare yourself — but the sushi is consistently DELICIOUS. Fresh, flavorful, dependable. I trust it.
The Toasted Yolk Cafe – A Brunch Favorite in Houston
If I’m going to The Toasted Yolk, it’s for one reason:
The Alaskan Arnold and mimosas.
Specifically that.
Add french fries. Add a cappuccino with almond milk (yes, they have almond milk and yes, that matters). And somehow I always end up with about three mimosas. No regrets.
Located right off 99 & I-10 in Katy, this is easily one of the best brunch spots in the Houston area. They close at 3 PM, and once the main rush dies down, it’s relaxed and easy.
I’ve been there so much they already know what I’m getting. That kind of familiarity makes a place special.
It’s flavorful, consistent, and exactly what I want when I want it.
Mo' Brunch + Brews – Vegan Comfort in Houston’s Third Ward

This little Third Ward spot just soothes my soul.
And here’s the part that surprises people- The entire menu is vegan.
If you’re unsure about vegan food, this is where you go to change your mind.
My favorites:
The Coltrane Sandwich
The Brussels sprouts (divine is not dramatic)
Their coffee
Their cocktails
The vibe is unmatched. The playlist is always right. It feels creative, warm, and intentional.
They also host brunch events and dinner nights on select evenings, so definitely check their website before you go.
Mo’ Brunch + Brews isn’t just a meal. It’s an experience.
Why These Are My Personal Best Restaurants in Houston
I rotate restaurants based on what I’m craving.
If I want sushi that makes me side-eye every other sushi place in Houston?Sushi Wabi. Every time.
If I’m in the mood for an Alaskan Arnold and mimosas — and I mean specifically that combo — I’m pulling into The Toasted Yolk. French fries on the side. Cappuccino with almond milk. Don’t overcomplicate it.
And if my soul needs good music, divine Brussels sprouts, and a fully vegan menu that doesn’t feel like a sacrifice? Mo’ Brunch + Brews (and the 35 minute drive to get there..)
Houston gives you options. I just happen to know mine.
These aren’t random recommendations. These are places I genuinely enjoy. Places I return to. Places that hit when I need them to.
And if you try one of these and don’t love it? We’re going to need to discuss your order.
