Retiring on a Cruise Ship

Updated: 2 days ago

Inside the Regal Princess

I didn’t always know what I wanted retirement to look like.

I just knew one thing:

I don’t want to stop working.

I don’t want to sit still. I don’t want to “do nothing.” And I definitely don’t want to lose my creative edge.

Then I took a cruise as payment for services on a project — and everything shifted.

That’s when I realized: I’m retiring on a cruise ship.

And yes, I’m serious.

Retiring on a Cruise Ship Isn’t About Slowing Down

When most people think about retirement, they picture quiet routines and predictable days.

That’s not me.

Retiring on a cruise ship means built-in energy:

  • Bingo nights

  • Casinos

  • Booze (responsibly, of course)

  • Unlimited food options

  • Live shows

  • Pools and lounges

  • A packed activity calendar

And the biggest perk? A new port every few days.

You wake up somewhere different without packing and unpacking your life over and over again. That’s not chaos — that’s curated movement.

I’m a Creative — I’m Not Retiring From That

I’m a graphic designer by trade. A creative by nature.

I have zero interest in giving that up.

But the climate we’re in requires expansion. Diversification. Adding to the “jack of all trades” list. Building multiple income streams.

Retiring on a cruise ship doesn’t mean I stop working. It means I choose how I work.

That’s not retirement in the traditional sense.

That’s freedom.

The Lifestyle of Retiring on a Cruise Ship

Let’s talk logistics.

Housing? Covered.

Food? Covered.

Entertainment? Built in.

Community? Everywhere.

Cruise ships are floating cities. Social ecosystems. There’s structure, activity, and connection without the stagnation.

For someone who thrives on creativity, people, and movement — retiring on a cruise ship feels less like an escape and more like alignment.

And let’s be honest — bingo, casinos, ocean sunsets, and endless dining options don’t hurt either.

Retirement Should Feel Alive

Here’s what I’ve realized:

Retirement isn’t about stopping. It’s about choosing.

Retiring on a cruise ship allows me to keep creating, keep learning, keep earning — while living in motion.

I didn’t plan this dream .It found me.

And when the time comes, I won’t be settling down.

I’ll be sailing.
